Easing into drafting

Tell the truth: did you resist making a huge daily goal?

Even when we understand a concept intellectually, there is a tiny gap between the decision that yes, I will listen to Caroline’s idea about how to get started writing this novel, and when you take action.

If the critic snuck in and told you that following my suggestion was “too easy” or “wouldn’t lead to anything meaningful,” you are far from alone. Even MY critic sneaks in and tells me this same thing, even though I now have years of experience and evidence that my approach works consistently for me as well as countless students at this stage.

Let’s assess how these first few days of writing went, and then set our intentions to continue on together.
